Job Title:                   PROGRAM COORDINATOR



Job Summary:          

Under the direction of the Senior Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and documenting recreation programs. The Recreation Coordinator is also responsible for recruiting and supervising Inclusion Support Specialists and volunteers.

Primary Duties:

1.Creates and implements recreation programs.

2.Works toward full inclusion in the community.

3.Collaborates with area agencies and organizations.

4.Selects program locations that are accessible and accommodating.

5.Processes forms pertinent to programs and policies.

6.Complies with grant and contract guidelines.

7.Implements participant behavior plans and incident reports where indicated.

8.Supervises and schedules Inclusion Support Specialists and volunteers.

9.Works at special events as needed.

10.Maintains financial & participant activity reports.



This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support: 

1. Culturally competent, recovery-based practices

2. Person-centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his/her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path towards those goals 

3. A trauma informed culture to aid individuals in their recovery process.


Other Duties & Responsibilities:

1.Adheres to established policies and procedures.

2.Completes all training requirements.

3.Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

1.The candidate must possess at least a high school diploma and preferably possesses a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

2.The candidate must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to be able to interact well with program participants, board members, donors and the general public.

3.The candidate must possess excellent organizational skills.

4.The candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to direct her/his own workload toward agreed upon outcomes.

5.The candidate must possess a driver’s license and preferably chauffer’s endorsement.


Working Conditions:

1.Normal office environment with little discomfort due to dirt, dust and the like.

2.The Recreation Coordinator is required to supervise and participate in activities/events requiring physical activity and is occasionally exposed to moving objects as part of the job. 

3.Extended workdays (beyond 8 hrs./day) and/or evenings, weekends, or holidays are periodically required.
